Every advertising effort is basically targeted at making a sale, although not every ad may end up in a direct sale. Sometimes the advertisement campaign works too well and you see a rush of sales and on other times all your advertising may just be a waste of time and money. So here we have the five basics, which if followed properly, can make any advertising campaign a complete success.

1.    Create awareness: before launching a product or before introducing your product into a new territory you need to create awareness about your product among the target customers. Unless the customer knows about your product or your brand, how do you expect him to buy your product?

2.    Recognition: awareness is just about informing the target customers about your products, but to make your products to stay in the customers mind you need to create recognition for your products. When your products are well recognized by customers, they can relate their needs with your product. Recognition efforts also reinforces the thought in the mind of the customer so that your products are somewhere in the back of their mind and can come to the forefront at the time when the customer feels the need for something similar in future.

3.    Interest development: till so far your advertising efforts just introduced your product line to the potential customer, but to convert them into real customers you need to make the customer interested in your products. Arousing interest through your advertising campaign will cause the customers to seek more info about the products and thus you can create a perceived need for your products in your target customers.

4.     Purchase Action: with the customer having been informed and the need been created, its time to make a real sale. So the next step of a successful advertising campaign is to trigger a sale, and that can be done by highlighting some special features of the product. All efforts at this stage need to be targeted towards compelling a customer to take action.

5.    Repurchase: when the customer has bough the product, the advertising campaign doesn’t end there. The focus of the advertising campaign must shift to convincing the customer to purchase your products again. Talk about the special promotions or the recent upgrades in your products, or highlight some other feature that wasn’t focused on earlier to make the customer to come back for a purchase. The more repeat purchases your customers make the more loyal they will remain towards your products.
