E-mail: It is one of the main problems in today’s office set up. Since the computer is placed on the table in front of you, there is always the chance of you getting distracted every time when a new mail message pops out. You can avoid this distraction by turning off the alert for new messages. Another problem with e-mail is that since you always keep you inbox never emptied; there is chance of you scrolling through the inbox to double check whether you have left out something important.
Use of phone: Telephone is another major distraction in the office. Make sure you a lot time for making the phone calls and receiving it. If it is not a very urgent phone call, consider not picking up the call and calling back later while at home.
Table full of papers: Make sure your table is rid of all the paper stacks. If the paper stacks are there you get distracted by adjusting it to other positions. Keep daily action folders on your table such that only necessary paper would be on your table.
Not favourable environment: This is one of the major distractions that can occur while at office. Make sure that your office space is properly lightened or heated. Make sure you are properly heated while in winter and cooled in the summer. This is the problem for which many people loose their time and get up to adjust the heating or the glare coming from outside.
Meetings and noises at office: There will be meetings that you can’t avoid while in an office. For that you got to come in early or finish late inorder to cope up with the time lost. Scheduling enough time for your projects will help in maintaining the time limit. Another major distraction is the sound level in your office. Your colleagues might be talking or they might be shouting, but make sure you don’t get distracted by them.
Your boredom: The main thing that distracts you is the boredom you feel after doing something for long. Work with just one project in your mind.
