Managing change in a workplace is a challenge. The HR department basically of every organisation plays traditional roles like improving performances, minimising the costs, develop leadership of skills.

With the advancement of technology and amendments in the government policies many traditional barriers in workplace do not exist at all. Globalisation has made to some extend positive impact in every sphere of our lives.With globalisation, diverse workforce is common. Making relevant changes according to the situation is a challenging task. Thus, detailed planning and quick execution is very important for managing change. Even some critical issues like

Creating new job descriptions, where there are changes in the work responsibilities of employees and also of the managers.
Compensation and other reward systems
Methods of transferring knowledge and education
Maintaining high performance levels
Maintaining appropriate relations with employees.

In the present business scenario many companies merge, then HR departments of both companies have tough task to manage the change by acting swiftly and decisively. Now HR executives are referred as Change Directors in many MNCs. There are two major aspects which needs proper attention. When two companies merge, the integration process is very vital. The HR professionals need to redesign the entire organisational structure. Each business area has to be separated with proper teams and business heads. The important factor is ensuring proper representation of employees of both companies in all teams.

The compatibility of new HR strategy is also very important. As a part of the reorganisation of the company the various departments need new selection process for new job roles. Thus, the HR personnel also need to ensure that a proper alignment of the new organisational structure with the overall new business strategy.  Moreover, with diverse employee laws and consultation agreements in different countries proper alignment is no doubt a tough task.

HR professionals need to address these issues to continue the business in the competitive environment.  Hence, interactions at regular intervals on various issues like company strategy, policies and vision with managers and employees should be conducted which can be helpful to bridge the gap. Even timely trainings and updation of skills for the employees can bring fruitful results for the organisation. As change agent no doubt the HR executives play very vital role.
