Beginning a Home Tutoring Business

Submitted on June 28, 2010 by 6 views

You need not be highly qualified or exceedingly knowledgeable to begin a tutoring business…you need to be good enough in a few subjects even school level will do and you will be able to earn substantially.

You may either arrange for tutoring sessions in your own home or at the student’s home.

If you can take classes at the student’s home and you need not hire a separate place you are saving on rental costs. The good thing about a tutoring business is that there is practically very little investment cost in fact nothing at all. You may need to purchase pencils and note books at the most.

The pricing for tutors may range between $10 to $50 per hour depending on the level being tutored, the duration and also the location where the services are offered. If you are tutoring at the student’s place you may charge slightly more. If your services are in a large city you have the chances of being paid more.

To have a good start of your home tutoring business you need not begin on a very large scale. Advertise locally…let people around your apartments know that you will be willing to tutor and quietly begin. You need not have a full scale advertising, if your services are really good, your students are the best advertisers.

News will quickly spread by word of mouth and you will see your revenues increasing. Always keep your approach professional, avoid doing any personal or housework during your tutoring sessions and give it 100% commitment. Only then you will see results.

You can also speak to others in the neighborhood and if anyone else is willing, it is a great idea to add them also in your tutoring business and slowly the business will begin to grow. In case you find that place is not sufficient, you may hire a hall and continue tutoring. You can begin from school level and slowly expand the business to teaching all levels and grades.

You may advertise with simple flyers of business cards and distribute them in schools, day care centers, local restaurants, coffee pubs and so on. It is best to begin with a known student and surely you will begin to see your business flourishing.
